ART EXHIBITIONS
AT PALATE
Jill Alikonis September 9-October 8
Palate will host an opening party for the exhibit, “Sense
of Home”, photographic work by Jill Alikonis.
The reception will be held Friday, September 9 from
7-10pm. The exhibit, which features color cibachromes
as well as black and white prints, runs from September
9-October 8 in conjunction with Atlanta Celebrates Photography
(ACP), a citywide recognition of photography as an art
form.
“This exhibit is deeply
personal. Home has always been the core of my strength
and my spirit,” says Alikonis. “These images
are explorations and confessions of my own sense of
home. This ongoing body of work will also record the
idea of home as experienced by my community.”
Jill Alikonis is a photographer living and working in
Oakhurst Village. Her interest in photography began
while living in France one summer at the age of sixteen.
Her photographs strip away all nonessential details,
to capture the beauty at the core of a moment. She was
born in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated cum laude from
Wake Forest University with a double degree in biology
and history. Her honors include two City Purchase Awards
by the City of Decatur |
